Chapter 2.: Being born again is great but…

I disappeared from the Goddess’ special place, it was above the world that I would be born in. A place up high, staring at the planet below.

I seem to recall the continents and the vast oceans below, they were quite beautiful. After disappearing, my surroundings became white as far as my eyes could see.

Alkrga huh, will I really be reborn? I wonder if the family I’ll belong to will be caring and nice? What kind of actions should I take? Reflecting, I should just stop with these lines of thoughts and just take things as they come.

As I calmed my thoughts, the white space before me faded black and in the next moment I became overwhelmed with pressure on my body.

I began to feel my surroundings, but my strength was steadily getting weaker.  My vision was blurry and I tried to see what was before me, little by little I could make out figures moving in front of me.

But then a pressure of some kind was forced upon me, my vision blurred further, and things became dark once more. And suddenly I felt my body being pulled and dragged, my vision blurred as if by my surroundings.

I was desperate to know what was going on around me, but my consciousness was a mess. Then as the pressure that surrounded me lessened, I felt as though I was dropped on a hard surface.

Is this birth? What was I going through? To my confusion, I was shocked by my next actions.

*bleeeuuughhh…. *bleeuuaargh….. *huuuuu…. *hack… *cough…. *cough…

I really felt as if I puked out my insides, I was disoriented and had a hard time moving around. Yeah, this is not birth, I thought.

“Arend! Arend! Arend!”

Urrrrgh. Who’s shaking me? I’m really exhausted, fatigued and my body is sore all over. Stop shaking me. While immersed in these thoughts, the person responsible embraces me like a child.

“Oh thank God you’re alive… Arend you still here… thank goodness… *sniff *hic *hic”

My vision gradually cleared and I was held in the arms of a beautiful young woman. Who was she? Could she happen to be my mother?

I was still confused by my situation and I wanted to clarify my surroundings. My voice leaked out in a fatigued manner.

“Mom… Is that you?”

“Ara? What did you say?”

“Mother?” My voice croaked but I repeated myself

The young woman, who held me, began to turn red and immediately loosened her embrace on me.

“Silly Arend, I’m not your mother. It’s me, Sister Lia.”  With a slightly embarrassed smile, she introduced herself.

As my gaze drifted from her smile, I realized there were several children behind her. Some were still crying and others were just looking down, ashamed to look in our direction. What happened?

I looked at myself and then at my surroundings. My body was that of a young boy, not older than 7 years of age. I was drenched all over, as I sat on the bank of a river.  I glanced down, trying to think over my situation.

Lost in thought of how I was reborn, I wondered what happened to the real Arend. Since I’ve become him, what happened to his soul?

My face twisted with confusion, I could only focus my thoughts of what I have to do from now on. I settled the various questions in the back of my mind and looked at the Sister in front of me and the children behind her.

Calming my mind and my body, I looked forward expectantly and asked.

“Who are you people?”

Sister Lia PoV

My smile disappeared and I was shocked in my heart. The little boy in front of me, Arend, appeared confused and lost. Arend’s initial reactions led me to believe he was just exhausted from the river.

I felt that I had just made it in time to save poor Arend from drowning, but my heart tightened from his most recent response.

When one of the boys from the orphanage ran for help, I rushed over in order to save the girl who had fallen into the river.

Upon arriving at the river bank, I was surprised to find Arend in the middle of the river his body bobbing up and down stuck near a jutting rock.

One of the girls nearby told me what happened. How Arend removed his shirt, tied it to a nearby tree branch and swung himself in order to grab the girl who fell.

Arend managed to grasp the collar of the girls’ dress and swung her onto the riverbank. But with the extra weight on the tree branch, the branch snapped and Arend fell into the river.

All would have been well, but the branch had struck Arend’s head and he drifted to a rock near the middle of the river.

Immediately, I cast wind magic.

“Breath of the land hear my plea, aid me now empower me”

Using the winds force, blew Arend’s body to the river banks shore and luckily I made it in time.

With the wind still in my control, I pumped Arend’s chest with air and within the next few moments, he began emptying the water in his body.

Arend was alive, I was filled with joy. Not only had he saved one of the children, he did not lose his life, I was glad.

I held Arend close to me, like a little brother, but he called out to me as if I was his mother. Immediately I lessened my hold and tried to remind him who I was.

Standing up before him, I smiled meekly, but then I realized something was off. Arend though he was fatigued and exhausted, looked around confused.

His expressions changed as he gazed at his surroundings and the children behind me. I thought he must still be in pain from almost drowning to death, but that was not the case.

With his head facing the ground, he then looked up at me and his words shocked me to my core.

“Who are you people?”

Chapter 1.: Meeting with the God of another World

Somewhere in the vast universe hovering above a planet with several great land masses and a clear cerulean ocean with depths of a blue abyss.

~Goddess of Alkrga~   “Don’t be alarmed, everything is alright.”

“Where am I?”

The man looks down, on the planet below him. Recalling his life, he knows this planet isn’t earth.

~~”You’re in a special space of mine, right above a world I govern.”

“Have I died then? Is this all my life amounted to?”

Looking at the figure before him, he gazed at woman’s beauty. Like a Greek Goddess, young slender and voluptuous. If one stared too long, they may be enamored by lust and push down the beauty in front of them.

~~”Hmm… You’re pretty quick on the uptake. Yes, you’ve passed and you’re previous life is over.”

Turning his gaze away from the Goddess, he looked upon the world below.

“I see… no, I understand. So I assume I’m going to someplace bad, like what those religions preach?”

~~”Now you’re misunderstanding something and getting ahead of yourself. Our time is short, so instead of interrupting me. Listen, and I’ll tell you when I’m done. Ok?”

“Ok.”

~~”Your life on Earth is over, and through an agreement with the Earth God, I have a claim on your soul. You are to be reincarnated into my world Alkrga. And you will enlighten its residents, the Earth God sent over his blessings. So I look forward to your achievements.”

The man wrinkled his brows, grimacing from the Goddess’ explanation.

“Hearing an explanation like that, it depresses me that I couldn’t finish my life’s work on Earth.”

~~ ”I said don’t interrupt me. I still haven’t finished my talk. I can see your expressions so I can understand how you feel about your situation, but you have no need to worry about that. You can still continue your life’s goal in a way in my world. It’s just….”

At this moment, the Goddess cast her eyes down and pressed her fingers together, in an embarrassed manner.

~~”If I were to compare my worlds’ intelligence and technology to your previous world, I would say it’s around the middle ages.”

The man sighed and placed his hand on his forehead.

“I see…..”

In a manner unbefitting of a Goddess, Tears in at the corners of her eyes, she pleaded her response to the man.

~~”But you see, once you reincarnate, I can’t interfere with your life. So that’s why I’m talking to you here. The God of Earth has granted you his blessing, of perfect memory. You can recall all the memories of your past life. Your mind is like a vast library compared to my world. But the difference with Earth and mine, is the special existence of magic.”

Pausing for a bit, and staring at the man before him, the Goddess drifted closer and closer until her face was a foot away from touching.

Having difficulty adjusting to the situation, the man shrugged as the Goddess drifted to the point of their bodies touching. Pressed to this extent, he let out a sigh and made up his mind.

“Hmmm… alright, alright. Please don’t stare at me like that. You’ll make me shiver.”

Gazing down at his body he noticed that he’s slowly disappearing.

“Hey… What’s going on?!”

Realizing the situation the Goddess snaps back to a serious manner.

~~“Oh! Your reincarnating already. Mou~ and I wanted to talk about a few more things. Okay okay, just remember this when you are born. Please save my world from corruption and enlighten its residents. I’ll send you a blessing once you’re born. I’m sure you’ll benefit from it, just know that from then on, your on your own. So don’t die rashly.”

“Oh no problems, I will do whatever I can. So what happens if I meet an unfortunate accident?”

At that last comment, she was about to tear up again. Reason being, thoughts of her world turning into rubbish and being laughed at, ridiculed by other gods was something she really didn’t not want to happen.

~~”If you do end up failing I will trade you with a God that likes chaos and torture.”

Shivering at that comment. He really didn’t like the thought of going to a place similar to hell. Memories of various religions started playing through his mind.

“I will be sure to not fall into an unfortunate accident, so please be kind to me.”

As he said his last words he disappeared from the Goddess special place.
